Solder - Recommended uses

Silver Solder

  • Extra Easy - The lowest melting point of all solders, only used where there are a lot of closely spaced solder joins.
  • Easy - This solder flows the easily, and is commonly used as the last solder type on multiple solder joins.
  • Medium - General purpose solder, often used for ring bezels prior to fixing to the ring.
  • Hard - Used for initial soldering on complex pieces of work with many joins.
  • Enamelling - Special enameling solder where color is important under transparent or translucent enamels.

Gold Solder

  • Easy - For complex repairs and final soldering.
  • Medium - For single stage repairs and secondary soldering.
  • Hard - For general purpose soldering, often offers the best colour match.
